SAICFF updates

Two important updates have been made to the film competition entry rules. First, the 5-minute minimum length requirement for the Promotional Media category has been removed. Promotional Media submissions may be up to twenty-four minutes in length (Rule #25).

Second, a new rule has been added: In order for a semi-finalist to be considered for a Jubilee Award, at least one of the following people must be in attendance at the SAICFF Jubilee Awards Ceremony on Saturday, January 10, 2009 to receive any potential awards: The film's Producer, Director or Lead Actor. Films not represented at the festival may still be screened but will not be considered for a Jubilee Award. This rule applies to all Jubilee Award categories. (Note: Special consideration may be given upon request for international film submissions.) The attendance rule also applies to semi-finalists who are eligible for the Best Young Filmmaker Award. (Rule #18)

Be sure to visit the Film Competition Entry Rules page for more information.

Also, the SAICFF website now has a dedicated section where filmmakers can keep up-to-date on the latest news, announcements and updates about the festival and the Christian Filmmakers Academy. Simply click on the Latest News header at the bottom left of the home page to view the most recent posts.

Vision Forum has now released the Scotland Faith and Freedom tour audio messages! The series totals more than 15 hours of audio and has an introductory price of only $45!

"Journey with us through the moors and glens of Scotland for a riveting survey of God’s providential work in this remarkable land. Learn of the wonders of Iona, a tiny island that served as a missionary outpost from which Christianity spread throughout the world. Walk the trail of John Knox — a galley slave-turned freedom fighter — who confronted Mary, Queen of Scots, face-to-face in Edinburgh as he led Scotland’s Reformation. Join us on the battlefields of Wallace and Bruce, and halt with us as we remember the legacy of the Covenanters, 18,000 of whom gave their lives for freedom. And enjoy the powerful music of one of the world’s leading Celtic balladeers, Charlie Zahm, as he plays his anthems in the land of the Scots. This audio series contains over 900 minutes of tour recordings on twelve compact discs, featuring messages given on location by Douglas W. Phillips, Dr. Joseph Morecraft, III, and historian William Potter."

Review: Pilgrim's Progress

I recently had the opportunity to see the new Pilgrim's Progress movie and was going to write a review until I came across this review which basically sums up what I was going to say. Here is an excerpt...

"The film isn't an attempt to tell the whole Pilgrim's Progress story directly from the book but more to communicate the same basic story drastically cut down and still have it make sense. The format uses a combination of narration and acting which though it wouldn't work for many films, I felt fit quite nicely what they were trying to do. It also uses a modern twist on the environment which I was skeptical of to be honest but in the end it really didn't come across "cheesy" as I thought it might. They don't attempt to bite off more than they can chew in the retelling which is part of what worked for me significantly. The entire story was taken at a "doable" level. Meaning it's obviously not a 150 million dollar Peter Jackson style film. So if you've been waiting for such you are going to be profusely disappointed. If you are able to change your expectations a bit however it makes for an enjoyable watch. Also let me say if you saw the trailer and were turned off by it you might consider giving it another chance. The trailer was in my opinion pretty bad. It looked grade C. (cheesy) It may have lowered my expectations so much that when I saw the film itself I liked it I'm not sure. Bottom line is the trailer didn't do it justice. Let's break down a couple of sub topics for this quick review."

Pendragon Update

This is me and Ethan Ledden editing away...good times!

...and now the scene needs to be approved by Chad.

Well, I managed to survive three and a half weeks editing Pendragon at the Burns' house! Actually it was a great time of fun, fellowship, food AND hard work! I can't say too much about the whole movie just yet, but we did manage to finish a rough (very rough) edit of the entire movie right before I left to come home. Hopefully the video edit will be locked in a few weeks and the post production sound work will begin! This year's editing is being done by me, Ethan, Chad and Nick (who also plays Caydern.)

It's looking good but there's lots of work yet to be done! Stay tuned for future updates...and more info ;)
