A Call to Anguish

As you may have noticed from some of my recent blog posts there is a lot of news these days that can be very frightening. Many people are worried about what could happen and might be in our nation. While it is important to consider future implications of current events, it is also easy to fall into the trap of prophesying a "soon doom" that in actuality may or may not happen. My goal for mentioning public occurances on this blog is not to be an alarmist (creating needless worry or panic), instead, I try to highlight events that do happen and/or are scheduled to happen, but probably from a different perspective than the leftist media. I hope the information and resources you find here will help you be more informed and therefore a better influence to those around you.

"One basic technique [to control people] is to keep them ignorant. Educated people are not as easy to manipulate. Abolishing public education or restricting access to education would be the direct approach. That would spill the beans. The indirect approach is to control the education they receive." ~Charley Reese ("How to Control People")

Another goal I have is to challenge you to strengthen your walk with God and from time to time I try to suggest resources that will help you do that. We know from the Bible that persecution of the church is coming. We as Christians need to be prepared...MUST be prepared. It was in prison that Bonhoeffer began to question his faith and the relevance of Jesus Christ, but his faith and commitment to God held firm...and he died for what he believed. It is so easy for me to want to be comfortable, to relax, to enjoy life, I want to believe that we are safe in America and dismiss the idea that our faith could be tested. Is that all I'm living for? Am I merely concerned with what is happening? Or does the state of our nation and our world drive me to anguish, sorrow, grief and heartache?

"The bravest are those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, both the glory and danger alike, and yet nevertheless, go out to meet it." -Thucydides

Listen to the following excerpts from David Wilkerson’s soul-stirring sermon on anguish and after seven minutes your passion for true revival may never be the same. This is very powerful!

Obama Signs Hate Crimes Bill

The First Amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Wiki - Hate Speech
: "The United States federal government and state governments are broadly forbidden by the First Amendment of the Constitution from restricting speech. See, e.g., Gitlow v. New York (1925), incorporating the free speech clause.

Generally speaking, the First Amendment prohibits governments from regulating the content of speech, subject to a few recognized exceptions such as defamation[27] and incitement to riot.[28] Even in cases where speech encourages illegal violence, instances of incitement qualify as criminal only if the threat of violence is imminent.[29]

This strict standard prevents prosecution of many cases of incitement, including prosecution of those advocating violent opposition to the government, and those exhorting violence against racial, ethnic, or gender minorities. See, e.g., Yates v. United States (1957), Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969)."

Washington (CNN) -- President Obama on Wednesday signed a law that makes it a federal crime to assault an individual because of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity.

The expanded federal hate crimes law, hailed by supporters as the first major federal gay rights legislation, was added to a $680 billion defense authorization bill that Obama signed at a packed White House ceremony.

He cited the work of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts and others "to make this day possible."

Earlier this month, Obama told the Human Rights Campaign, the country's largest gay rights group, that the nation still needs to make significant changes to ensure equal rights for gays and lesbians. "Despite the progress we've made, there are still laws to change and hearts to open," he said in an address at the group's annual dinner. "This fight continues now and I'm here with the simple message: I'm here with you in that fight."

Among other things, Obama has called for the repeal of the ban on gays serving openly in the military -- the "don't ask, don't tell" policy. He also has urged Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and pass the Domestic Partners Benefit and Obligations Act.

However, some advocates for stronger rights for the lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender community have complained that Obama's administration is moving too slowly on his legislative promises.

The full news article has quotes from Obama about where he hoping to go from here. I highly recommend reading this news article.

Jewish Telegraphic Agency -- "We must stand against crimes that are meant not only to break bones, but to break spirits -- not only to inflict harm, but to instill fear," Obama said at a White House reception Wednesday commemorating the signing of the bill. "Because no one in America should ever be afraid to walk down the street holding the hands of the person they love," he said. "No one in America should be forced to look over their shoulder because of who they are or because they live with a disability."

The Huffington Post -- "I'm also honored to have the family of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, who fought so hard for this legislation."

Homeschool Dropouts

A new documentary by the Botkin family! "As many readers know, the Botkin family is extremely pro-home-education, and has been since the early ‘80s, and so when we began work on Homeschool Dropouts in August, we were already familiar with the history and current state of home-education movement."

They shot the documentary on the 5D and did post production completely with CS4. You can read all about the making of the film on Isaac Botkin's blog, Outside-Hollywood! Click Here to watch the trailer.

Pendragon: Journey Behind the Scenes COMING SOON!

“Two and a half years ago my sister Sara and cousin Shannon came to me with the idea of taking the pictures and blog posts they were writing and turning them into a book chronicling the making of Pendragon. Obama's Media Control Strategy

There is a new article out by Cliff Kincaid who is the Editor of Accuracy in Media.

"A new national broadband plan, combined with the just-announced FCC plan for a "net neutrality," or regulating the access to the Internet, provides the opportunity for the federal government to define a "new public square" with a "common space with shared facts" as Ornstein put it at the August 6 FCC event. He explained, "It's something that was easier when we had three broadcast channels and virtually everybody in the society tuned into them."

While the Internet is apparently confusing people with too much information, Ornstein said that the Internet also offers "multiple opportunities" to "develop a public square." He made these remarks at
an event presided over by Obama's FCC chairman Julius Genachowski. The assumption of the exercise was that the federal government, under the cover of a national broadband plan, should not only regulate the Internet but provide new media for the public."

You can read the full article at
Worldview Times, Right Side News, or just Google "Obama Media Control" and check out the many many other options....while you still can.

It has comedy, suspense, and drama. So grab the tissues, popcorn, and Clancy for your next movie night." Read full review.

Dove awarded the film their "Family Approved" Seal: "This film is very inspirational but also portrays some rather harsh realities commonly seen in urban areas. Swine Flu Vaccine Is Tool Of Depopulation

“The Earth can’t take 6.5 billion people. We just can’t feed that many. So what are you going to do? Kill as many as you can. We have to develop a science that kills them and makes it look as though they died from some disease,” Farrakhan said, adding that many wise people won’t take the vaccine,” reports United Press International."

FILMWEAVERS AND “THE PENNY”

An article Filmweavers recent film project The Penny has been published in the magazine Testify.
"
It’s two in the morning and the thermometer is hovering around ten degrees. A small group of people huddles outside an outside an auto repair shop around a frost covered LCD monitor. My eyes start to droop shut and I reach for an energy drink to try and force them back open but the liquid is now frozen solid. Placing the can back down I turn to those around me. “Let’s go one more time. We’ve almost got this guys!” The small group of people bursts to life and scurries back into their positions. “Roll camera…”" You can read the full article here.

Is Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty? C.A. Part 3

"On October 14, Lord Christopher Monckton, a noted climate change skeptic, gave a presentation in St. Paul, MN. In this 4-minute excerpt from his speech, he issues a dire warning to all Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty, scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009." You can view the full 90 minute speech here. In the full speech he covers the truth about global warming, banning of DDT, cures for HIV, global population control and much more! You can also download the PowerPoint here.

I highly encourage you to go to the GlobalClimateScam website for more information about Monckton, videos and download-able resources. They also have a download of the treaty you can look at!
After you watch the video, you should listen to this radio broadcast that gives a lot more information about the system that is being setup.

This is a recent episode from Brannon Howse's radio program "Worldview Matters" and it is FREE through Oct. 30th! "On today's program Gary revealed first hand information that was gained from his membership in an organization while a government employee...Gary told Brannon off air, at the end of the program, that he has never revealed this much information on any radio program...Gary is a very credible researcher and just spoke for a conference in Minnesota hosted by Jan Markell that was attended by 5,000 to 7,000 people."" Listen to or download the mp3 here.

Another resource that I have found thought-provoking recently is the Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, "Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Freedom." If you haven't heard this audio drama, I encourage you to do so. If you already own it but haven't listened to it in a while...you might dig it back out. It's interesting to listen to in light of current events and our nation's possible future!

"What If" Post Production Blog

I posted a while back about the production blog for the upcoming film What If. Now that the project is in post production, director Dallas Jenkins is posting a weekly video update about the status of the film and basic "how to" for each step. They are 3-5min videos and I found it interesting to see the behind the scenes process that you don't usually hear much about. You can see the videos on the blog here.

Communist America Part 2

Here is the 2nd half of the Biblical worldview resources! If you missed the first blog post you can read it here.

YOUTH EVANGELISM CONFERENCE - VIDEO
by Paul Washer
This is also known as the "Shocking Youth Message!" It says "youth message" but if you haven't seen this video, it doesn't matter how old you are, this is a 50min video that in my opinion should be on the "required" list for everyone who claims the name of Christ.

It isn't entertaining, it isn't funny, it doesn't make you "feel good," instead it challenges you to the very core! Click Here and be challenged!

WORLDVIEW WEEKEND RALLY
Because There Is a Crisis In Worldview Training
This is the event that really got me thinking about cultural worldviews and how they relate to Christianity. It was a FREE 3hr Sunday evening rally and the speakers were Brannon Howse and Mark Cahill. They are holding these events all over the nation, you can click here to found out more information and see a listing of cities they will be coming to. I can't recommend this event enough, I dare say that if you attend you won't see current national and international events the same.

I know, this can all sound like conspiracy theory stuff that will "be exposed." It isn't. This is a conference where they discuss real world events, who is leading the way and what their worldview is...and how that worldview will effect us as Christians!

JOURNEY TO THE HEART
Where the Christian Life Becomes Real!
"The initial objective and ultimate goal of the Christian life is to discover what is truly in your heart and what is the genuine heart of God. This 10-day journey will help you learn how to love God with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength."

I attended the Journey to the Heart this past July, and it is an experience that is convicting and really hard to describe. Many of the young men said, "This is the best thing that I've done since I got saved!" I have to agree. It is not a program, it is not a retreat, it is not a "revival meeting." I call it a ministry. The goal is for you to examine your heart before God and also spend time praying and reach the heart of God. It is a week away from distractions, interruptions, and the noisy fast-pace of the world.

I know there are some people who disagree with Mr. Gothard and the IBLP ministry, but listen to me, this is not a "Mr. Gothard Seminar" (I kinda thought it would be) This is about you getting real with God. If you are looking to really deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ, I highly highly recommend Journey to the Heart!

Click Here for more information. If you would like to see pictures from the Journey's and to read testimonies from the attendees, click here.

Tons of Tips for Filmmakers

The 3 Steps of Production
"I haven’t made a lot of films but I have witnessed the witless as they go down in flames on their own sets enough times. The key is to learn from their mistakes. You have three opportunities to completely mutilate your film and pile heartache and unnecessary work on yourself. We call these preproduction, production, and post production. Three lessons for each stage. While these may seem like common sense it still amazes me how uncommon sense seems to be." Read the full article here.

12 Tips for Better Film Editing
"I’m currently cutting a digital feature and this has made me think about editing styles. Here are an even dozen tips that I feel will make any budding film editor better at this craft. I’m sure not everyone will agree with all of these points, since they come out of my own approach and style. Nevertheless, I hope they offer some takeaway value for you." Read the full article here.

10 Tips for a Better Final Cut Experience
"Many experienced editors making the transition to Apple’s Final Cut Pro often struggle with some of FCP’s core operating features. This is especially true of many Avid editors who view working in Final Cut akin to learning a different language. Here are 10 quick tips on how to run and organize FCP edit sessions that will hopefully ease your frustration." Read the full article here.

Dealing with a Post Production Facility
"The do-it-yourself filmmaker might view the traditional lab or post facility as a place of last resort. That belief stems from a fear that – like a visit to a doctor or lawyer – every minute is billable. Most finishing facilities are actually easy to deal with and have the producer’s best interests at heart."

"Sometimes, clients simply don’t know where to start, what to ask, or what’s expected of them. I posed some of these questions to a roundtable of post professionals, including Terence Curren, owner of Aphadogs (Burbank), Mike Most, chief technologist at Cineworks (Miami), Brian Hutchings, freelance colorist (Los Angeles) and Peter Postma, US product manager for Filmlight."

Letters to God Theatrical Release

"Looking to tap into the faith-based market, Vivendi Entertainment has acquired North American rights for Possibility Pictures' feature "Letters to God," and has set a March 12 release date.

"Letters," which recently wrapped in Orlando, Fla., centers on a 9-year-old fighting cancer who copes with the challenges of his treatment by writing letters addressed to God. His letters eventually find their way into the hands of a beleaguered postman who is battling his own demons."

"Vivendi Entertainment -- a division of Universal Music Group Distribution -- has more than 3,000 DVD titles in its library. It added a theatrical distribution arm last year and will release its first title, "New York, I Love You," on Friday.

Kristol said Vivendi plans to release four to six films next year with a focus on niches such as the faith-based and urban genres. "We are expanding the definition of specialty from traditional arthouse films," he added."

The film, which is 43 minutes in length, goes on sale Friday, October 9th. However, on that same day, it will be made available online for FREE viewing for 3 days. Pendragon Interview

I haven't posted an update on the Pendragon project in quite some time. If you've followed my blog for very long, then you've heard of this fine family film but if you are new here be sure to check out the Pendragon movie website!

A new interview with Aaron Burns (Artos Pendragon) has been posted online. They asked a lot of fun questions such as:
- "In your own words, what it was like to work on Pendragon."
- "What resources have you found most helpful in learning how to make films and how to do it right?"
-
"Could you tell us about some specific prayer requests that the Lord answered during the production of this film?"
- "What would you tell someone that is interested in making movies?"

Aaron Burns (excerpt)
"[Pendragon] almost started out as something we could do together as a family, and from that it grew. We were planning on being done in two years, writing the script one year, filming the next year, but just different things happened. Last December [2007] we saw the footage we had captured and we just prayed about it and felt that the Lord would want us to try to shoot for one more summer. So a total of four years, about fourteen weeks of shooting the entire project. And then we did the post production in about six or seven weeks."

Filming has been wrapped and now the arduous post production process begins! There are a lot of updates on their website such as, behind the scenes interviews and production updates with pictures!

Communist America Part 1

Communist America?!? Maybe we'll be a little more socialistic in 4 years...but communism? This is not speculation, a conspiracy theory, or scare tactics, this is meant to be a wake up call to the facts!

"Khrushchev, a more contemporary Soviet prime minister, said: "We cannot expect Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find out they have Communism."

Check out these articles I found by Googling "Communist America."

-
The Communist Takeover Of America - 45 Declared Goals
- Communist Party USA
I have been doing lots of research studying world leaders and philosophers, who they learned from, what their goals are/were, what they have been and are involved with currently, and how it has effected the United States. For instance:

MARXIST FUNDAMENTALS
by Prof. Libor Brom
From "Where is your America" August 1982

The fact is that we live in a time of fateful challenges. As a people and a nation we are under test. This challenge is, of course, Marxism-Leninism. There is no mystery in its strategies and tactics. It has always been concrete and spelled out in black and white. It has also been openly and actively tested in the economic, political, and ideological struggle for control around globe.

Lenin, the founder of the first Communist state, put it simply: "First we will take Eastern Europe, then the masses of Asia. We will encircle the last bastion of capitalism, the United States of America. We will not need to fight. It will fall as a ripe fruit into our hands." And, "We must practice coexistence with other nations, until we are strong enough to take over by means of world revolution.... We are not pacifists. Conflict is inevitable. Great political questions can be solved only through violence.... It is inconceivable that Communism and capitalism can exist side by side. Inevitably one must perish."

In other words, the so-called ditente is nothing more than a form of Marxist-Leninist art skillfully geared toward pacifying the American public by encouraging them to act ridiculously nice while the Communists kick the daylights out of them. The result is that the free world continues to shrink. Democracies cannot handle periods of low-tension confrontation. They have - an almost universal desire to believe that peace is the natural condition of man, that armies are temporary nuisances, that conflicts of interest can be dissolved simply by a policy of good will. Unfortunately, nothing is further from the truth; but for some reason free people prefer to believe it. - Read the full article here.

As Christians we need to be ready, but how? First of all, to have a Biblical worldview you need to read...kinda makes sense eh? :)

THE BIBLE
by GOD
If you don't have a Bible I recommend that you get one. I'm not a strict King James version type of person, but I do prefer and recommend it.

I have also compiled a list of other books, videos and events that are "highly recommended by John-Clay!" Actually, in my opinion these are things that should be required reading/attending for each and every Christian...they are really THAT GOOD!
Warning: These things will challenge your commitment to Christ and your view of the culture around you.

DO HARD THINGS
by Alex and Brett Harris "Written when they were 18 years old, Do Hard Things is the Harris twins' revolutionary message in its purest and most compelling form, giving readers a tangible glimpse of what is possible for teens who actively resist cultural lies that limit their potential. Written by teens for teens, Do Hard Things is packed with humorous personal anecdotes, practical examples, and stories of real-life rebelutionaries in action. This rallying cry from the heart of a revolution already in progress challenges the next generation to lay claim to a brighter future, starting today."

I read this book on my plane flight to Ukraine. Now, I'm 23 so the whole "teenage years, low expectations" aspect of the book didn't really apply but the principle of "Get outside your comfort zone and do hard things" really, really challenged me. If you haven't read this book, it's worth your time and $10! You can get the
book here.

OUTSIDE HOLLYWOOD
by Isaac Botkin
"In this groundbreaking book, experienced cinematographer, writer, and animator Isaac Botkin prepares Christians for successful Christ-honoring leadership as writers, directors, and producers. Botkin has worked as both a Hollywood outsider and an insider, and is a leading proponent of a new independent film industry. In Outside Hollywood, he smashes the myth of methodological and cultural neutrality and offers a paradigm for developing a family-friendly approach to this hugely important field of cultural influence."

This book is a MUST for anyone even remotely interested in Christian film making. However, it goes beyond film makers because the majority of this book is not about the nuts and bolts of film making. It focuses more on the history of Hollywood and how to be aware of the cultural impact of media. You can read more about the book here and purchase the book for $15 here.

MARX & SATAN
by Richard Wurmbrand
"Karl Marx began life in a God-fearing family. Drastic changes led him to a deep personal rebellion against God and all Christian values. By examining Marx’s writings, Wurmbrand builds a convincing case for Marx’s undeniable Satanic preference."

I have not finished reading this book yet, but it is very intriguing, insightful and important history! You can pick it up for $7 here.

If you read this entire blog post, congratulations! Come back though, I'll be posting more in the next several days!

Jelly Telly BIG NEWS!

I've blogged about Phil Vischer's Story and the Creation of Jelly Telly, but now there is more news that I found to be quite exciting...you'll understand why in a minute...

Phil Vischer
1)
"First, we have a new partner for JellyTelly. That partner is Focus on the Family, the giant Christian ministry that sort of started the whole Christian kids media movement with projects like McGee & Me and Adventures in Odyssey. They believe JellyTelly is a wonderful way to serve families in our web-savvy age."

2) "Second big news - we're also launching the most ambitious educational project I've ever been involved in....We have begun production on a 13-DVD series starring all the characters from JellyTelly that will walk kids all the way through the Bible - from Genesis to Revelation - and explain our faith and what it means to live it. The project is called "What's in the Bible?" and we will bring it to market with Tyndale House Publishers, the folks that brought us the Living Bible, as well as all those early Focus on the Family videos like McGee & Me and Last Chance Detectives."

This last paragraph here is really what I'm excited about! A dvd series that hopefully doesn't just entertain but teaches children what is IN the Bible and how it relates to current events and our life. I have high hopes for this new project:
"I am monstrously excited about this project, because we're attempting to do something no one has really done before. We taught a lot of Bible stories over the years with VeggieTales, but we never really taught the Bible. I mean, the whole thing. Where did it come from? What does it mean? How does it affect our lives? And that's what we're going to do with "What's in the Bible?" - hosted by Buck Denver and friends, as well as, ahem, yours truly. (Yes, I'm going to be in it, too. It seemed like at certain points we need a real person talking about God.)"

Read Phil's full blog post here. If you don't click on any of the other "Read More" links in this article, I highly recommend this one! It will give you a better overview and details of this new project.

Christian Retailing reports:

"The 13-part "What's in the Bible?" set is due to launch in March 2010 with the release of the first two volumes, tentatively titled In the Beginning and Let My People Go!

Characters in the new series will be from Jelly Telly, the faith-based Internet program Vischer created through his Jellyfish Labs, in partnership with Focus on the Family, though the DVD content will be exclusive.

"We're excited to team up," said Katara Patton, Tyndale's acquisitions director for children and youth. "Tyndale's foundation is built on making the Word of God applicable and understandable to children. This new DVD series is a wonderful way to bring the Bible to life and to help kids know God and His Word.""

Full article here.

Tyndale

"“Looking back, it almost feels like the simple lessons of VeggieTales were the appetizer, and we’re ready now for the main course!” declared Vischer.

Content in the “What’s in the Bible?” series will be exclusive to the DVDs, but the characters will also appear on www.JellyTelly.com, Vischer’s faith-based daily Internet program in partnership with Focus on the Family."

Lamplighter Theatre IS HERE!

A while back I posted info that Lamplighter was working on creating "Lamplighter Theater." Well, it is now here! "For twenty years our Lamplighter team has eagerly anticipated the creation of Lamplighter Theatre Audio Drama. We have prayed and planned while waiting for the Lord’s perfect timing. The time has now come."
I can't tell you how incredibly excited I am about this, I greatly enjoy radio drama and I really enjoy Lamplighter's books! They officially started broadcasting to radio stations in Sept, so this is really new stuff. They do have one finished album/"book" entitled "Sr. Malcom and the Missing Prince." Currently they are working on "The Basket of Flowers."

Of course, I have some links where you can get more info:
- You can hear the first episodes on this website. (I am assuming future episodes will be posted here though I'm not sure.)
- Lamplighter Radio Theatre Blog....and Official Website
- Visit the store

I found a place online where you can listen to their weekly broadcast of new episodes. It plays on Mondays @ 6pm ET.

...and "one more thing," according to this link, it looks like they might be venturing into the film making arena as well. I'll do my best to keep you posted!

NEW! One Click Feedback

I like interaction, I like feedback, I like to know how an audience is reacting to info I present.

You will now notice a neat little "rating system" at the end of each blog post and I would be most appreciative to get your feedback, whatever it may be! All you have to do is click the box next to the feedback that best describes your sentiments.

One click...that's all, it's not that hard :)

Sharing Blog Posts on Facebook

Let me start by saying that I've never claimed to be the smartest kid on the block, but I just figured out a cool feature and so I thought I'd share it with you!

Here it is: Let's say you are reading someone's blog (that uses Google Blooger) and you want to share a blog post with your friends on Twitter or Facebook:

1) Click the the title of the blog post so that the page refreshes and displays only that blog post.

2) Click the "Share" button in the top left of the page and choose where you want to share it!

-If this was new and helpful for you, please leave a comment and let me know....then I won't feel quite so bad about just figuring this out :)
